Prayer request again
« on: May 04, 2005, 03:28:23 PM »
Well, my husband hasn't been doing real well lately.  He is having some chest pains and just not feeling good at all.  We are suppose to go in sometime today for some more tests to try to see what is going on.  He has passed out 2 days in a row.  Luckily we were at the hospital having tests gone.  We are scheduled to go the University of Louisville Monday May 9.  Maybe we will get more answers.

Seth has been sick.  He is running a fever.  It has been 103.8.  Tylenol brings it down in the 100's but not all the way down.  He has a yucky cough.  He has had diarrhea and some vomiting.  This has been for 3 days now.  Went to the doctor on Monday they said it was probably a virus plus acid reflux.  I am waiting on a call from the doctor to see were to go from here.

On top of all that I have pleurisy.  I had to go to the ER on Friday.  I was hurting so bad I thought something was going on with my heart.  My blood pressure was 140/100.  Which is really high for me.  Mine usually runs around 90/60.  Anyway they decided it was pleurisy and gave me meds for it.  I still can't get over it.  I don't really get much rest now.  It is hard to with all the worry and everyone here sick.  Except the 3 year old and my goats!

Well enough blabbing.  Thanks for taking the time to read.  Thanks for all the support I have already gotten from you all.

Thank you all.

Nicollett, my mom is going to keep the boys for me this afternoon.  We have to take Kevin to get checked out.  He has a little bit of a fever which is really not a good thing right now.  Seth's doctor is calling in meds for him so that will help some.  So hopefully we will get it all back in order.  This is just so exhausting.  We will get through it.  I am still trying so hard to stay positive.

Thanks everyone again for your prayers and support.

Praying for your family Steph. I'm sorry about all you're going through right now. I know what you're saying about "trying so hard to stay positive". Sometimes I find myself wavering from positive to 'I just can't deal with anymore'.
I can see from your previous posts that you're dealing with alot right now and I for one think you deserve a medal or ribbon or something!! I admire the strength you have because I know that strength comes from the love that you have for your family.
I'm praying for brighter days to come your way soon!!

Poor Steph.  You've let yourself get run down and you're Resistance is down.  I know it's hard to eat right and get the proper rest but I sure hope you can find a way to do it.  I know you're trying to take care of everything by yourself but you won't be worth a dime if you get down.  Take care of yourself and remember that Kevin has doctors taking care of him so take some relief from that.
I feel for you having pleurisy.  I had it years ago and thought I was having a heart attack!  Gosh that stuff hurts.  Every breath was like breathing acid.
My prayers are always with you and tell Kevin I wishing him the best.  Let your mom take care of your boys as much as you can because you'll need all the breaks you can get.  Hang in there girl.

Thank you all so much.

Seth is feeling some better now.  Hopefully he will make it back to school tomorrow.

Kevin had to be admitted back to the hospital today.  He has 2 blood clots now.  One had already passed through his heart.  Thankfully it was small enough to pass through.  The other one is larger and is very close to his heart.  They are giving him meds to help get it taken care of.  They say he will more than likely be there until Monday.  Hopefully he will be stable enough to be transferred on to the University of Louisville by then.

Me, well I am ready to just pull my hair out at this point.  My pleurisy is getting some better.  I have been having a reaction to one of the meds.  Not bad just enough to bug me.  I am barely holding myself together at this point.  I know that I have to keep going.  I have 2 wonderful boys that I have to hang on for.  I will get it pulled back together by tomorrow I am sure.  I just have to stop and take a few good breaths and do a lot more praying myself.

Well Elijah has finally decided he is ready for bed.  Which is where I should be anyway.  I wanted to make sure I let you all know what is going on with us.  I don't like to leave you hanging.

Thanks again for all the prayers.
Stephanie

Steph, I feel for you. I've had pleurisy before. I thought for sure I was having a heart attack to.  You sound like you're at the breaking point.     Try to get as much sleep as you can. I know that is probably easier said than done, but being stressed, sick, and tired is formula for a melt down. Try to eliminate the one you can. I'll be praying for you. :prayer:

Thought I would update you guys a little.  Seth is doing much better now.  Elijah is starting with a cough.  Hopefully that is all it turns out to be.  Got meds for that already.  I am feeling better now too.  I still have a little pain in the chest but it is tolerable.  Still taking meds so it should be fine in a few more days or so.  Kevin is still in the hospital.  It looks like it might be Tuesday or Wednesday before he will get out.  His blood levels aren't were they need to be yet.  He isn't having the pains in his chest now.  That is a good sign.  He seems to be feeling better medically.  His spirit is a little low at times.  But I guess that is to be expected.  I try to imagine how I would feel if it were me there.  I just try to be supportive and listen when he decides to talk about it.  That is about all I can do.  Thank you all again for the prayers.

Glad to hear the home front is getting better, and maybe it is better for Kevin to be where they can monitor him more closely, and where YOU can get some rest, at least while you and the kids are fighting illness.

Well I thought I would update everyone a little again.  It has been a while since I have had time to actually sit here and type.  My husband has been sick this time.  It has been pretty rough.  This second round of chemo has really taken a lot out of him.  We will have to go tomorrow for a blood transfusion.  His counts are all way down.  It worries me to death.  His WBC is only 0.7 right now.  The normal is 4.8.  The boys and I have all been sick and having to try to stay away from Kevin as much as possible.  I have to give Kevin 3 shots a day to help build his his counts back up and to help with the blood clots.  I have to wear a mask so I don't breath on him while I am doing it.  It has been really crazy here lately.  They are trying to get everything in order for the bone marrow transplant now.  I will try to keep in touch better.  Thank you for the continued prayers.

It's great to hear from you, Steph.  I think about you guys all the time but realize you don't have any extra time right now.  So even though you might not be posting or get time to read just keep in mind that we're always praying for Kevin a complete recovery and holding you close in our hearts.
Take care, sweets.

Sorry I haven't been here lately.  Things have been very crazy here for a while.  Kevin's last treatment was pretty rough.  He had a reaction to the spinal tap that was done.  The lining in his spine and brain got irritated by the chemo they injected.  It was kind of rough for a few days.  He is a little better now.  He will be going back to see the doctors tomorrow for another checkup.  If things are looking good he will be admitted back next week for his 4th round of chemo.  After that if we have a match for the marrow things will start moving toward the transplant.  We have good days and bad days.  We are getting through it one day at a time.  Thank you all for the continued support and prayers.

I'm sorry to hear that Kevin is having such a hard time.  Even though it's expected it doesn't make it any easier.  Let him know we're still praying for him and you take care of yourself.
