Prayer for courage and strength
« Reply #30 on: August 23, 2005, 03:32:32 AM »
Well my strength and my courage have truly been tested today! The next 24-48hrs are very crucial for my mom according to her Doctor. They still havent gotten positive results that the cancer has moved to her liver or if it is infection but her liver is being obstructed and not working. Either way it is bad. Because her blood pressure has been so low, they cannot do any sort of surgery to try and help.

I followed the doctor out into the hallway and said "listen we(my family) have been scared to death, we breakdown crying because we think we may lose mom, we dont understand everything that is happening here and dont know what to expect, should we be this afraid of losing her?"

His answer: "You should be very afraid as she may very well not make it threw this"

I'm calling in for BIG-TIME Prayers tonite. I will never be ready to let my mom go.....but I know that my mom isnt ready to go!!!!
So I'm praying God sees my family and my mom fit for a miracle.
I just want to wake up tommorrow and hear my mom has made an improvement, even just a little to give us hope!!

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Hi everyone, Well, God did see us fit for a miracle because that is what we got!!...I think this has been the longest week of my life...I'm still here at the hospital (been sleeping in a chair in moms room :) )  The hospital has computers in the lobby for guests to use so I thought I would pop in and thank you all, THANK YOU ALL!!!!...AND THANK YOU GOD!!!!

My mom was to the point where I'm sure she could hear the angels singing, her body was shutting down on her, and the doctors werent very reassuring when we were all just holding on to anything that gave us hope. She's slowly coming back to us now....she has a long road to travel but is definately making improvement and is responding. I really hope I never have to see anything like this again, but, if I do, I think God just made me a little stronger

Need to get back upstairs now. I really want everyone to know just how much I appreciate your prayers and support here.

Thank you again

I'm home for tonite and I'm gonna SLEEP in a real bed!!

Thank you for the continued prayers.

Results so far....Cirhossis of the liver, Mom doesnt drink alcohol at all, but I guess the diabetes and high blood pressure and the meds may be the culprit. Doctors think shes had it for quite some time and the heavy rounds of chemo did major damage to an already damaged liver.
-next her abdomen is covered in fluid that is infection.
-there were no abnormal (cancer) cells in the fluid, this is a good thing because her cancer is very agressive and invasive.
- because her liver shut down on her the blood was bypassing her liver and bringing all the ammonia and toxins back through her body and to her brain which put her into a 'mental state'. This was very scary because as the day went on her personality changed...like a person going out of their mind until eventually she slipped into a sort of coma. She couldn't even close her eyelids to sleep.
-barely had any blood pressure at all
-and then there is the cancer-no more chemo can be given now due to liver

It took two long days to bring my mom back out of her mental state, shes still a little 'confused' but I'm sure happy to see her back!!!

I just wanted to share some of what she was up against so you all could see why I think that a 'miracle' truly did happen here and I'm sure all the prayers had alot to do with it :D

I cant say thanks enough!

Here it is, middle of November so its been a month and a half since Mom came home.  She inch by inch made improvements sometimes only to be set back again by yet another complication.  She returns home tonight from yet another short stay at the hospital, but its all different now because Hospice has been called in to assist us.  I'm still having a hard time swallowing all this but the Docs this time said, call them, they give her 0-6mos to live, I never wanted to hear those words!!!!

I'm still going on courage and strength and am feeling pretty drained, not to sure I have any left...
I'll be on my way down there (to Moms) in just a little bit to be with my brothers and sisters when hospice shows up but would again like to ask for your prayers to help us all through this...

My sister and I have been working so feverishly to get Moms strength back, and see her well again, even if for a short time, but I think this was our final word....

Nothing I say can change what you are going thru, but what I can do for you and your family is stay on my knees, and speak to the one who knows all you need and all your going thru... God never gives us more than we can't handle.  As I too have been faced with nearly losing my mother to breast cancer I thought I can't handle anymore of this, God knew I needed him.  We will pray for your mother, sister and you each night at family alter.  May God keep his merciful hand around you each and know He loves you
