Prayer for courage and strength
« on: May 02, 2005, 03:21:41 AM »
My sister was diagnosed with breast cancer almost two years ago. She was only 35yrs old at the time with a son 13yrs and daughter 8yrs old. She lost a breast, some lymph nodes and went through some grueling chemo. She was back on her feet and feeling good (thinking it was gone). Thursday doctors found 2 masses in the other breast. She's now bracing for whats to come. On the outside she seems strong and positive, I'm asking for prayers to keep her strong and prayers for her children also. Her son had a hard time the first time around and we worry about him.

As my sister was recovering from her first battle with cancer, Our mother was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive type breast cancer(IBC-immflammatory breast cancer)Prognosis is not great for this type. These past few months has been Heavy doses of chemo, then surgery, now back to more heavy chemo. Please pray she keeps the strength to keep fighting this.

One more prayer request, I always thought that I was a strong person but I'm finding now that I need more strength to help my mom and my sister fight this. I'll be lost without them.

Your prayers are much appreciated,
THANKS

Oh dear, my heart sure goes out to you. You have my prayers. You and your entire family will be in my prayers. This is a difficult time for everyone involved.
Given your family history, I sure hope you are current on YOUR mammograms!
I think maybe you and I need to get together SOON and meet for lunch or just a girls day out. Everyone needs one of those and I'm not THAT far away from you.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your thoughts and prayers. It really has helped to know someone is out there pulling for you. Last nite I was really feeling down about this whole deal. The prayers are working though because I'm back on my feet today, gotta grip on myself and trying to keep the "HOPE".

My mom is the backbone of our family. She always tells people that I'm like her right hand so that makes me having to be all the stronger for her and my younger siblings. What I really feel like doing is bawl like a baby who wants their mommy!(I'm 42). I cant do that to them so I hope that you don't mind my doing it here on GT.

Mom is also loved by more than her family, she's been cook and bus driver for going on 36 years now for Lakeview Public Schools! Last year during graduation, Seniors were ask to tell of the person they most looked up to and admired, most of them said Betty(my mom)! Boy did that bring tears to our eyes. She still working the best she can because to her thats the best medicine.

Talked to my sister last nite and she said she CAN DO THIS :D so if she can do it then so can I.

And yes Nancy I passed my checkup with flying colors. I also have 4 daughters who closely moniter themselves(Their other grandmother passed away last year of breast cancer). THANK YOU!!!
I would love to meet someday :D

BIG THANX TO ALL OF YOU
sorry to unload on you but you people are so nice you make it hard not too!

Yep, you unload all you want, whenever you have the need, we are here, and will be here, through good times and bad. That's what the love is all about.

Today, would you do me a favor, and try to remember that you are perfect, absolutely perfect, just the way you are. The father that made you, leads you today, and always, but for today, sweetie, try to remember if you need to cry, you are perfect, if you need to be strong you are perfect in your strength as well.

Moms not doing so good, the chemo is taking its toll on her body and spirit. Once again I would like to ask everyone to remember her in your prayers.
She is so weak all the time now, the other day while out she became so weak and shakey she was afraid she couldnt walk back to the car even with a cane, we were in a state building who offered a wheelchair, my mother had no other choice but to use it. I took her to the car and returned the wheelchair, when I got back to the car she was sitting there crying! She was crying because she was so terribly embarassed that she couldnt walk out of there on her own.
My mom has always been a strong person and a happy person.
Watching what this cancer is doing to her is so hard.
She has chemo for three strait weeks and then gets one week off, hardly enough time for her body to recover, and she still has to make it thru nine more rounds of this before the next step.
Please pray for her physical strength to make it thru these treatments and please also pray her spirits are lifted so she can continue her fight.
ThankYou for all your prayers you have already given, they mean alot!!!

Dad called me early this morning...sounded like he was crying... said he didnt sleep a single minute all nite long because my mom has become so sick, he feared he might lose her and needed help.
She is now in the hospital, so weak she cant even turn over by herself. amongst other things they know her liver is inflamed, possibly infection which her body cant fight off due to the strong chemo.

Please pray for her and my Dad. They are both so scared right now and I am scared for both of them.

Please pray my mom is able to fight this 'infection' and it isnt the cancer that has moved on to other parts as this is a very aggressive type. Couldnt get all staight answers seeing it is Sunday and we went through Emergency.....Oncologist wont see her until tommorrow sometime...wont even tell us what time tommorrow...I guess he thinks cancer patients can wait??!!!

Major prayers coming from VA.  It's so sad that the treatment is worse than the disease most times.  Your mom sounds like a fighter from your past posts and I pray that she can maintain her strength and dignity and beat this.
