What breed?
« on: July 03, 2011, 06:19:38 PM »
I am looking for a small breed rabbit/bunny for my daughter as a pet.  She is 16 so would be very capable of caring for a bunny.  Is there any small breed that would be an easy keeper, and that would do well alone? what sex is better for a pet? any other input would be helpful for a first time bunny owner.

Mini Rex bunnies are adorable...I always had boys, but I'm sure more experienced advice will come around.

My bunny -'lovin' nieces always had Lops (Holland Lop?)  I myself love the Netherland Dwarves (short-eared like the LaManchas)!

Netherlands are sweet. Some can be a little fiesty. Hollands are very propular and more docile. Britannia Petites are too high strung for a new person. Boys generally are much sweeter than girls.

I love lops too! They can get so big! The dwarfs are very cute. My good friend's son is raising them and I told him I would buy a baby to put with Toby....can't wait!

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907
