Will gelding help the earless wonder???

OK. so i have had my mini stud since he was 1. He just turned 4 and i guess has soured. He tries to dominate the kids ( run them over, kick, bite, etc....) but is 4 too late? He tries to kill the goats... so that is an issue we are trying to address. He was attacked by pit bulls 3 days before thanks giving 2009 an no has no ears ( so he is deaf) and they punctured his left eye leaving him half blind. By the grace of god, he lived but now has the worst of attitudes towards ANYTHING smaller than him... even the chickens. Will gelding help Brownie or do i have to sell him (not the preferred option). I am scared to sell him because of his speacial issues but I can get him gelded... Will it help though........

That poor horse!  I'm sure gelding would not hurt the situation.  I'm guessing his behavior is related to the dog attack and his injuries.

I know if he isnt being used for breeding the best thing you can do for him is geld him. I had my donkey gelded because we werent using him as a breeder. It calms them down and it should help him alot also.
I would separate him from the goats and other critters until he calms down and behaves himself. This type of behavior is unacceptable to be in with goats and like you said he will kill them.  I know with training when they do something wrong you have only a few minutes to make them think they are going to die, and this helps break bad habits.
I personally wouldnt have him in with my goats, just my opinion. Good Luck and talk with your vet.

I agree, if you aren't using him for breeding, there really is no reason to work around dominant behaviors. I would geld him, it may or may not help, but either way, he will be easier for you to live with, and/or place if things continue. As much as you love him, it just doesn't excuse behavior that can kill. In the mean time, I would pen him by himself and only allow adults in his pen. Can he be trained out of his behaviors-probably as they relate to people, but not as they relate to animals.

He is in his own pen  but the goats are allowed to roam the property during the day. They have proven not to be very smart because they keep jumping the fence and going in with him. We added a hot wire but they clear it. I guess it may be good news that i found a home for all the goats. A few houses down a lady wanted goats so we made a deal and they will live at her house untill we can get brownie under controll.  :sw:

At this time it appears he thinks of the goats as part of his band of horses. Chasing, biting and kicking are all part of him trying to assert his dominance. But goats don't respond the way horses respond, and they never will, so unless you can construct a safe environment for the goats/horse, you will forever have this kind of problem IMHO. Gelding may help this problem, but it may not, the stallion is just being a horse.
