Every Man
« on: June 05, 2010, 02:18:06 PM »
"Is there hope for every man,
a solid place where we can stand
In this dry and weary land?
Is there hope for every man?

Is there love that never dies,
is there peace in troubled times?
Someone help help me understand,
Is there hope for every man?

There is hope for every man,
a solid place where we can stand
in this dry and weary land.
There is hope for every man.

There is love that never dies,
there is peace in troubled times.
Help me make them understand -
JESUS is hope for every man!"

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Me too, Misty.  I've just had this song on my heart these days, with everything that's going on..........................the man in charge of our country & his cronies making this world hurtle toward destruction at a breakneck pace.......................the young people in this land who are free of morals & values..........the pursuit of the almighty dollar bringing about the slow, oily death of beautiful parts of our nation.  Makes me very sad, but through this sadness, I realize again that we are not alone - and that He will never desert us.

Doreen, do you get K Love radio in your area?  It's the only station I listen to. It's very up-lifting.

Doesn't sound familiar.  We have a local Christian station, but what I REALLY love is The Message on our Sirius/XM radio in the car, and the same station on our DirectTV (one of the music channels)

One of the reasons I love this song so much is the images they've painted to describe "everyman"............................"I am the soldier in the airport, facing giants one more time - I am the woman shamed and haunted by the cry of unborn life."  That last one really did make me think - there are a few women in my life that have had abortions, and each of them had no remorse or regrets at terminating their pregnancies.  I guess, based on their reactions of it being only a procedure to bring on their menstrual cycles, I assumed that all women who've had one felt the same way, and didn't let it bother them.  But the lyrics of this song hit me like a ton of bricks, that there must be many, many women who aborted a child, and either at the time or later, are tortured by regret and guilt, and possibly emotions even stronger!

Nic, if this is straying into a hot -topic area, feel free to move it!!

Doreen,  This may be a hot topic but as a mother of two adopted children it's one that is very close to my heart.  It has always saddened me that so many women and men don't realize what a miracle children our.  I've always felt that the struggle and desire my husband and I had for children and our inability to conceive has made us better parents.  I often thought that if everyone had to have that desire for children before conception the world would be a much better place.

On the other hand my children our who they are because of the struggles they had before us.   Why they had to go through what they did I'll never understand but I do know they are much stronger for it.   I think it's God's way of getting us to lean on him.
