puppies and goats!
« on: November 19, 2009, 04:03:57 AM »
ok so havent been on here in a while. busy with school, work, hunting season and on and on...lol, but i just got an 8 wk old male Great Pyrenees! yay! he is a doll baby and really laid back. What are some tips to get him to be accepted and accept my goats. i have let him have about 45 min today of just walking around my 4 to 5 month old boer babies. they were not so sure, but not scared either. lol i dont think they knew what to think of each other! lol my older goats were in protest but in a different pen and i wont introduce then till he is much bigger. i have read some on this breed but wanted some down to earth opinions and experience that you guys have had with these fluffy little guys.
thanks so much!

ps: couldn't help posting a pic! lol

He is soooooooooo cute! I would build a pen inside the goat area for him, and let him live there most of the time as you gradually increased his supervised time with the goats. It is normal for him to want to chase them, and for them to try to eat his food. The pen within a pen will forever give you a place to feed him, and for him to stay near the goats as he learns his job.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

He is a doll and yes a pen within the pen and only supervised time outside his pen.
