This couple, although not related to us by blood or marriage, is absolutely family to us! - we have known him since he was a wee boy, and Mattie was in high school when we met her. He is the son of Steve's BFF, who passed away many years ago, and left a hole in all our lives. Anthony has always looked to Steve for guidance, and they are very close.

Found out today that Mattie is pregnant!! - joyful news under any circumstances but especially so in light of many things: this will be a VERY high-risk pregnancy. She is 38, significantly overweight, a diabetic (just diagnosed last year), and has a history of several miscarriages. She is at 11 weeks, so I'm feeling more optimistic, but she did once carry to 12 weeks before losing the baby.

These young people would be the greatest parents!!............they have so much good to give, and have wanted a child for years & years!! Steve, Sam & I are all thrilled with this news, but I can't help worrying, and thinking how poor Mattie probably feels as if she will be walking on eggshells for the next 6 months, wondering if she's going to lose this bbay, too.

Everyone, please pray for them, that God sees fit to let her carry this baby to term, and let them pour all their hearts & souls into loving this precious gift from their Heavenly Father!!

Mattie and Anth are spending the weekend close by here, camping at a state park during early muzzle-loading season, and they were here for dinner last night. Oh guys - she looks better than I have EVER seen her!! - I just wanted to practically cry for joy. And it's not just her physical appearance - she's the same woman, but with so much more spirit & spark, like a joy and a quiet confidence, and it's all due to this baby she's carrying. She's at 14 weeks now & is doing very well. She said her OB told her she had done the hard part; GETTING pregnant, and that she, the OB, could KEEP her pregnant. I'm praying that's the case, and with God's help, she can fulfill this dream that has been denied them for so long.

PLEASE keep your prayers coming for them!!!!

Sonogram done a couple of weeks ago shows that all is well, and looks like it may be a GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I went out not long ago & bought the most adorable, tiny pair of faux Crocs that you've ever seen!!!! Spoiled?? - why no, what ever gave you that idea!!!!

Due date, I believe, is April 21st. If Fiona conceived the other day, she & Mattie will be kidding at about the same time!!

PRAISE GOD!!! - the best news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alexis Michelle Scicchitano came into the world at 4-something this morning!!!!!!! 10 lbs. 10 ozs, and 21" long!!! Seems fine, they are checking her pancreas function & blood sugar since mom is diabetic. She was a C-section, dad said birth was fast!! - and mom is still sleeping off the meds!

Thank you all for your prayers that helped make this couple's dream come true!

Alexis is about 3 1/2 months old, and her parents are still grinning like possums - they are so in love with their little baby daughter. Again, thank you, Lord, for giving them this gift, and thank everyone who prayed for them during the pregnancy!
