underground fence containment for dogs
« on: September 08, 2009, 01:32:38 PM »
Trying to come up with an effective containment system for two basset hounds.  The invisible fence seems to be more cost effective for my five acres but I am not sure if it is the best idea for my hounds. Any input would be appreciated.

I personally have never tried it on my Rotties.
they are very powerful and I am not sure that it would contain them if they saw someting they really wanted.
Now my husbands cousin has 2 Chesapeak Bay retreivers and it works perfectly for them.
A chime sounds ( on thier collar) when they start getting close and they both back away.
He threw bones over the line and they won't go.
It might be perfect for your dogs.

It works to keep your dog(s) home, but it does not keep out predators or prey that your dogs may encounter. For that reason, I am not  fan.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907
