My cat Tiger who is four ( I have had him since he was less then 24 hours old ) has always been a fat cat weighing in at nearly 30 pounds. Well he began loosing weight a few months ago, slowly and the vet and I thought it was a good thing. But then he began vomitting all over the place and could barely hold food down. Then the vomitting just stopped-after we bought food that had no dies in it. Well Friday August 21st he was just sick, not much energy and he was nothing but skin and bones. He had lost a ton of weight. By Sunday he had quit eating, had no energy and it was like picking up a new born baby, limp and lathargic. Monday morning I took him to the vet and they did blood work, his bellyrubbins were off the charts, his glucose levels were extremely high, his potasium levels were very low, he was dehydrated and a few other things that were not as life threatening. In other words he was having liver and kidney failure and he was diabetic. They admitted him, started an IV and told us that he probally won't make it thru the night. We prayed, visited him everyday and finally brought him home on Friday. By Sunday he was begging for food, fighting his shots and the yellow in his skin and mouth was going away. He is doing much better and I have to give him insulin shots twice a day. He is getting back to his onery self and putting weight back on. I am glad for vets with knowledge. I complain about my vet sometimes but I am glad they are there when I need them.
