baby chicks?!?!?!
« on: July 15, 2009, 08:13:59 PM »
Well we have free range chickens mostly game hens and two sliver laced wyndotts and a rooster. Well we went our to check on everyone this afternoon and heard a chirping. DH looked and there they were. There are two yellow ones and three black and yellow ones. What is the difference in the coloring? Age?  breed? Not sure but I guess when you have free range chickens you are bound to have babies popping up everywhere. I just love baby chicks.

I'm guessing not only did she set on her eggs, but other's eggs were in there, too.  Congratulations!

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

I bet they are also. They are just so cute. I thought about taking them away thinking critters would kill them.  We just tried moving the hen that hatched them to look at the babies and boy was she not happy!! I think I will let them stay with her. The chickens are laying eggs underneath our shed. There is a spot just big enough for them to get into. I can see the eggs but I can't reach them. So I am sure we will have more running around before to long!
