Oh I am much better today than yesterday!! The surgery was uneventful (guess I'll have to take their word for it, since I was OUT!); and I have 3 small incisions in my knee (again, must take their word - I'll be able to unwrap & dsicard the bandages tomorrow). But the 4-5 hours after I got home were
miserable..................................I was in SSSOOO much pain!!! I took the maximum dosage of RX pain med, and they said after 2 hours I could supplement with 600-800 mg. of Ibuprofen. Well, the pain was so bad (everything hurt - from my lower back on that side all the way down to my toes..........................I was supposed to keep ice on it & keep the knee elevated above my heart, so I couldn't do much shifting around to change positions to one that was more comfortable); that I only waited 1 hour, and thinking the Ibuprofen was 200mg, I took 4. Well, they're actually 250mg, so then I started feeling first very hot (along with the terrible pain), then I got very cold, clammy, & sweaty. Probably too much med. at one time.
Things got better after that - I was walking only to the bathroom & back, using a cane, which I swore I would never do!! I caned back to the bedroom, and actually slept pretty well, don't think I moved much from my elevated-knee on pillow position. Have been doing much more walking today, still with the cane - walking farther & for longer stretches at a time. Even cooked myself some rice, so am feeling much more independent!!! I can bathe & shower tomorrow, and put Band-Aids over my incisions. Walking is still quite painful, but is getting better so am sure things will just improve with each day.
The only small emergency so far???.................Steve was over at his mom's checking in on her, and Sam was in the shed, getting the goats' grain ready, and was listening to her iPod. I was on the phone with my BIL when Rupert started chasing his tail!! (Rupert, not Bruce) - Rupert has done this ever since we got him & it's usually very cute & funny. Well, he somehow got one or more of his claws imbedded in the flesh of the tail & couldn't get it loose!!!! - he was making these horrible, growly, screaming noisess & tumbling aroumnd! I hung up & started yelling for Sam, thinking she might hear me since the DR windows were open. Well, she didn't so I had to struggle to my feet (not so easy), and try to cane quickly over to the window & yell for her some more......I knew if I tried to get the tail free, he would bite the living crap out of me, even though I would only be trying to help - when an animal is in pain, things are different. Plus, I was afraid of losing my balance & hurting the knee worse!! .
In the meantime, Rupie had gotten his paw back, and all was well. Kinda funny now, but wasn't at the time!!
