Granddaughter
« on: December 30, 2008, 03:59:37 PM »
Please pray for my 3 wk old granddaughter, Audrey. She is in the hospital on a ventilator, ng tube, catheter and 2 IV's. She has RSV and her lungs are full of fluid. The doctor said they are doing all they can but it is still very much touch and go. Thanks.

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Little ones being sick no matter the age is hard on us all but when they are so little we are just broken for them. Lord father God in Heaven you are the one who holds this tiny life in your hands and you know what is going on in the hearts that love her, give them all comfort and bring healing were ever you are needed. In the name of the Great Healer, Amen!

Thank y'all so much for all the prayers and compassion. After a really rough time yesterday, she seems to be improving some. They are talking about starting the process of weaning her off the vent. The medical care she has received is top notch and I'm so thankful for that but, of course, only God can heal!

Audrey is still improving. She looks so much better. It will take days to wean her off the vent but they have made progress even since yesterday afternoon. It is very good to see my daughter Lydia be able relax some, too.

She is still hanging in there. Hasn't had any setbacks but isn't as ready to get off the vent as they thought. They took her off the morphine they had her on to keep her sedated so she is more responsive and I know that makes Lydia feel better as the baby responds to touch now.

Audrey is still improving! She is off the vent and breathing on her own. Still very fragile, tho. They had swabbed her (nose, I guess?) when she went into the hospital and it showed she had RSV and the flu! Also she had  cultures done that showed staph in her lungs and a kidney infection. It is a miracle that she survived all that. Certainly an answer to many prayers! God bless you all who have been concerned!
