Adopted Some Ducks
« on: May 02, 2008, 11:28:34 PM »
My mother and stepdad are moving to the Villages in Florida and couldn't take their 40-something flock of Blue Swedes.  I agreed to take four.

My drake is a classic Blue Swede and one of her original ducks (a mother's day gag gift 4 years ago).  His name is Cheese.

Then I have Momma - the pied black swede.  She is mother to Delilah - the pied blue hen.  Lastly is Daisy, a silver swede by a classic blue and out of a silver hen.

I've had them about 15 days...given them two courses of ivermec and lots of body builders (mother's flock had, admittedly, gotten too big).  They're doing great!

'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907
