Author Topic: Please pray for a little doe (Read 9740 times)

This afternoon at 4pm friend brought over a very sick little doe (around 7 months old.) She had been down all day. Dr. Skillman has been consulted, and we are following her protocol. When the doe got here she was flat on her side, and crying in pain, with a fever of 104.6. Two hours into treatment, her temp is 102.7, a good sign, now at 8:40pm she is trying to stand, but winds up thrashing, I'll probably sleep with her tonight, just in case she gets in a bad position. I'm cooking beet pulp right now, and will grind it to make a drench for her-we're not sure when she ate last, but she has no rumen sounds. Please keep her in your prayers, we have hope tonight, but sure could use one of those special miracles the Good Lord sends from time to time.

Praying that the Father will give you healing hands to turn this doe around and set her on the road to a complete recovery.

Oh I pray she made it through the night and she is doing better this morning. Glad she is in your care guided by Dr. Skillman.

Thank you everyone, she is responding slowly to care, is alert, her neurologial symptoms have subsided other than her balance issues with her left front leg. Please keep those prayers coming, for her and for the one I just got a call on, he is headed this way.

She is blind, and so far not eating on her own. We are continuing her treatments, with very high thiamine levels, and have stopped her Dex at this time. She sure has a strong will to live, and truly must feel like a pin cushion. IF this had been Polio related, she would have regained her sight by now, so while I thought it was polio, secondary to whatever her original issue, it appears they may be one and the same.

Please continue your prayers, she is trying desperately to stay alive-we just can't give up.

PRAISE GOD!!! Tonight she is eating her grain for the first time, and nibbling hay. This is the first time since Wednesday. She is still blind, but if she will eat, she has a chance.

Just wanted to update everyone, this little doe has been eating and drinking on her own for 4 days now, and is alert and up on her feet. She is unfortunately, still completely blind, and will llkely remain that way. Looks like she gets to go to her home in a week or two. Thank you everyone for your prayers, they were answered once again.

Praise God for putting His hands over Nic's as she healed this little doe!!

Nic, now that she is blind, will her owners still keep her? - was/is she a production doe, pet, etc.??

Right now they are thinking they will keep her, and get a third goat, so that the sighted doe will will have a sighted friend. We will put a bell on their sighted doe (the original doe) and the blind goat will be able to follow her around the pen. It all should work, unless one of the sighted does becomes a terror, and then the whole thing will need to revisited.

Oh am glad and it should work especially if they wait a bit to introduce a new sited doe so that the other two get a chance to ajust to the new happenings.
