'In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.' - Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Please light a light

Please light a light tonight. For this morning about 10am I found that my baby Patty O' Day had passed away to an unfortunate accident.

Please light that light .. show her the way, the way she needs to go .. to get to that playce where she will frolic in the green fields and play with the butterflies and the bees.

Please light that light so she will not be afraid as she has to travel alone.

Please light that light so she knows those still at home miss her dearly and weep for her.

Please light that light so we all may know how much we love our animal friends, and that not one moment should be forgotten.

Patty ! I love you ... and you will always be next to me .. .

Please light a light .. for it is hard for me to see where to go now .. for i am far far to lost without my baby ..

I miss you ...

Hi Randy, I havne't written becasue everytime I read your poem I cry.  It hit home and reminded me of the ones I have lost. I think that might be why you haven't gotten many responces to your loss.  I hope you are doing better now and even though you can never replace your little one that has passed away. You will know that you still have 4 little ones looking to you for your love.

That's a beautiful tribute to your special little goat.  I am so sorry for your loss and your pain...After I lost my very special Chocolate Lab, a friend said to me "I guess God needed him more that you did"...Maybe that helps a little to know she's up there with God--it did for me.  But, your tribute is a wonderful and touching expression of your love for this animal!

Take care..

I have a friend about 35 that is the craziest gal you'd ever want to meet and I had the pleasure of working with her years ago but as time passed we drifted apart, busy with our own lives.  She's cute and tiny and the most vain creature I've ever known, always wearing only designer, name-brand clothes which was always a joke with us.  I made so much fun of her she got to the point she would try to hide her tags from me...lol!  But she's the most down to earth person I've ever known and generous to a fault.  And Lord what a comedian she is!
She came into work one day after shopping at the Dollar Store wearing five dollar wranglers, a two dollar shirt and those two dollar canvas tennis shoes (my wardrobe).  I noticed the ensemble as soon as she came in but I thought was some of her funky designer clothes meant to look like the gal-next-door clothes.  It killed her soul because I didn't notice.  Of course she went to the bathroom after playing this trick on me and changed back into her "labels" and I think donated the other clothes to Goodwill.
I ran into her the other day and she was dressed as usual and wearing a bandana tied around her head looking cute as a speckled pup and she gave me a big hug, told me how young and good I look (I love her) and I asked how she was doing and if she's still working.  She said that she had been off work since May and I noticed her normal twinkle leave her eyes.
She has breast cancer and underwent a double mastectomy this summer and has lost all her hair due to the chemotherapy treatments.  She told me all this and I know I looked stricken and she said not to worry because she was too mean and sassy to stay down for long.  Then she asked me if I thought her bandana looked good all silly and prissy and I told her it looked great on her.  She said she wears them now because she lost all her hair.  She told me all this and never stopped smiling.  I would hope to be that strong if I'm ever in her shoes.
Please put my friend in your prayers tonight.  Thanks.

Jamie, am thinking of your friend, and all of us.  Hope we can all face the horrors that life can deal without losing what makes us ourselves down to the last dot, as your friend has done.  Here's hoping she finds a designer way to paint her head and make all of us with hair envious!

Jamie, she is in my prayers!!
It seems this is the month that I keep hearing of women with breast cancer. My friend Ann who is getting married in a week (another reason why I have been so busy) has lumpus, she had to have emergency surgury due to a cyst they found on her throat. While she is in the hospital, her mother finds a lump within 6 months of having a mammagram. It was aggresive and they spent no time putting her in the hospital and removing her breast. All too much within a month of getting married.
Breast cancer is so REAL, and effects SO Many women! My hats off to all the brave women who have had to face this!!
Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.
Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God...

I was ready N2G question about pumkins a minute ago, and got me to thinking about our admin assistant at work. Her husband was killed in a work accident a couple weeks ago.

A little history. Kitrina & Keith had been trying to have there second child, but with no success. Long story short, the doctors had decided she needed to have a hystertomy (sp?). Anyway the morning of the pre-op she pops up pregnant. it was a difficult pregnancy, but Eric was born about 2 1/2 months ago.

So here is Kitrina. Her husband tragically killed with a 2 1/2 month newborn, a 5 year old sweetheart, and an 18 year old son from Keith's first marriage. Kitrina has a hard row to hoe coming up, and she can use all the well wishes she can get.

The reason N2G post made me think of it, Julie Ann (5 yr old) asked me if I would let her plant pumkins in my gardens next year. As you might imagine, we are going to have a big ole pumkin patch next year......

Thanks

Hello All,

I need to ask for your prayers for my friend Julie. Julie is a wonderful Christian, home schooling mother of six children, who this last year has been dealing with a hyperactive thryroid which caused her heart to race uncontrolably. They treated her with radiaition and her racing heart seems to have slowly returned to normal. However, she recently was told she has skin cancer, and will need chemo and radiation treatment for her cancer. She is also awaiting the results of her CT scan. So please, please, please, remember Julie in your prayers.

Nicollett just want you to know we will all keep Julie in our thoughts and prayers daily.  One very good aspect of this is that she is really trying to keep her spirits up for the sake of her childrenk, however in doing so she may be doing the best thing ever for her own personal condition.  The power we have with in ourselves to overcome hardships, seems to be a great resource.  Let her know that she does have friends out here supporting her with our prayers.
