Well my friend owned a pet shop where I used to live and she got her for me at 4 weeks old and I hand feed her. So she was very reasonably priced .she will be 12 this year ,we share thes ame birthday ,although they live till they are 70 or 80 years old. Beware birds are very messy and .If something happened to her I would never get another.

This is Baby, my Patagonian Cavy....does he count??

He's from So. America, related to guinea pigs, he's paper trained and runs around the house w/ the dogs / baby goats / cats most of the time when we're home. I LOVE BABY. He makes THE sweetest lil sounds!

His name is Baby. He's not terribly affectionate but he does have 'favorite' people he sits by (he really doesn't like my dd, we suspect she got too rough w/ him a time or two). He loves fruit loops and acts like he's a drug addict dying for them when he hears the cereal box rattle.
I bought a female to keep him company but she died shortly after we got her, so I had him nuetered. Luckily my vet's cousin had one that she'd nuetered so she had done it before.

Baby's actually bigger than that now, he was a 'baby' in the pic. He's 1.5 years old now, and about 15#. About as tall as a large cat.

I don't have one now but my mother had a skunk when I was kid. All of my friends use to think that was cool. That is the most exotic animal I ever lived with.

This is gonna sound silly but I have a question. What family are these adorible creatures in? I mean are they a rodent like a rabbit, a hoofed animal or what are they? I have seent them on the web before but never paid them much attention but he is ADORIBLE!!!

I have had some rather odd critters over the years I supose. Everything from possums, orphaned robin, orphaned hawk and injured animals (Each one of these were turned loose as soon as they were able to fend for themselves so you can't really call them "pets" I guess). To a Hog Nosed Snake, Copperhead Snake, Australian Possums, Flying Squirrels and Gray Squirrels!

At this time the only "odd" critter I have is my Leopard Gecko Igore.

I think he is in the marsupial family. like kangaroos and wombats and such ? maybe,I'm not really sure ?

I got to looking on the web last night and they said it is in the rodent family and is closely related to the guinea pig. If you look at their face, they sort of look like a capibara!
Cool critter!!!
