No news yet, they had just gotten her in a room when Dan got to the hospital and they kicked him out at 8pm. So we wait, this is so frustrating. She has lost a lot of weight. She was 6lbs 10oz at birth and is now down to 5lbs 2oz. This is so scary. The feeling of helplessness is the worst. Dan said she was really really pale. I will keep you all posted as I hear news. I'm off work tomorrow, so I should be able to pop in and let you all know.

Thanks for the prayers, I can't even begin to tell you how much they are appreciated.

oh wow poor little maria is sure having i rough time getting adjusted to this cruel world.its horrible that a tiny baby is faced with all of this and has to be a nightmare for all of you.i hope they fix the problem quickly and she heals up fast so grandma and grandpa can spoil her rotten!!

I don't have the greatest of updates, since Angela is exhausted and can't explain things very well, but I will try to repeat what she told me.
It seems that the fluid in Maria's kidneys (Angela couldn't pronouce the name) that is supposed to go back into her blood has been routed to go out her urine stream. Which is why she keeps losing weight. The Doc said that this should be able to be treated with medication and not to worry too much, Maria should be fine. She may need an operation down the road to reroute the fluid, but they want to try the medication first. That's all I know for now. Angela is pure exhausted. Dallas is staying at the hospital with Maria tonight, so Angela can go home and get some much needed sleep. This hospital is two and a half hours from us, so that's no easy feat for her.

Oh no! Poor baby. I know you guys are terrified and I can't even imagine how Angela and Dallas are feeling. I hope it's not as bad as they think it is and as she gets stronger she can outgrow it.
Don't they have facilities where they can stay close to the hospital like a Ronald McDonald house?
We'll all keep praying Nancy. There may be a miracle or some kind of blessing come out of all this. Hang in there.

Yes they have a Ronald McDonald house that only charges $10 a night, but they want to keep things as normal as possible for Little Dallas. So one parent has been bringing him home at night. I had him all day today, he even went to work with me. We had a lot of fun. He is such a happy baby.

They are still running tests on Maria, Angela said her color is better, but they still can't get her diareha under control. Poor baby. I hate the lack of findings and such. I wish we could get more info. Angela and Dallas, being so young, don't always know what questions to ask, so inturn, don't have many answers.

Nancy, would they have a person at the Hospital to help Angela and Dallas in understanding Maria's health problems better, and assisting them in communicating better with the Doctors? They have different titles - Social Worker, Patient's Advocate, etc.. We have those here, so surely the Hospital up there would have someone of this nature.

I can understand them wanting to keep things normal for Little D. I'm glad to hear she's a little better but I can understand your frustration at not having more answers. We'll keep praying for all of you.

Thanks you all. I haven't even had a chance to turn my computer on the last two days. I don't have much of an update, they still don't know anything, nothings changed, no one knows anything. Angela finally got so frustrated that she had her pediatrician call the hospital to get some info. I have lost all faith in the speciality doctors, they are useless.

Nancy, maybe they were looking for a Red Herring, and just didn't consider it could be food based. Either way, the new formula seems to be helping.

Maria came home last night. She's still very very pale and sleeps alot, but her stools have firmed up a bit. She's on a lot of different meds, but hopefully, she is on her way to mending.
